The Astrology of July 2025 in brief

The New Moon in Cancer on June 25th was ideal for nurturing inner well-being, self-care, emotional abundance, and its energy carries into the first week of July. Questions we can ask ourselves include: What do I truly need to be happy? What gives my life meaning?

Uranus moves into Gemini on July 7th, where it last resided during World War II. A Full Moon occurs in Capricorn on July 10th, followed closely by Saturn retrograding on July 13th, which may bring irritable drama. Mercury retrogrades from July 18th to August 11th, causing some communication chaos. Mars meet the south node on July 21, marking some kind of triggering event.

The New Moon in Leo on July 24th is in opposition to Pluto, marking an intense time. Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune are also involved, creating an energy that’s both harmoniously powerful and potentially explosive. Early August, especially August 8th (Mars opposing Saturn/Neptune), is also intense and likely to appear in world news.

Uranus – The Great Awakener

Uranus is the archetype of revolution, freedom, and genius. In Greek mythology, Uranus ruled the sky. It changes signs every seven years, bringing revolutionary ideas and development to the sign it moves into.

Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel using a telescope. It takes 84 years to orbit the Sun and is unique among planets, as it spins on its side. Uranus brings sudden, creative, and innovative bursts of insight—especially in Gemini, where it also adds a playful tone. Its role is to wake us from complacency—forcing change in areas we've taken for granted (such as democracy). Uranus’s deeper motivation is to help us find our uniqueness and live an authentic, free life.

Uranus is strongly connected to the U.S. birth chart. Historically, every time Uranus has been in Gemini, the U.S. has been at war: the American (and French revolutions), the Civil War, and WWII (Pearl Harbor). Sadly, signs of this pattern repeating are visible again.

But Astrologers famously say Uranus is “unpredictable”—sometimes doing the exact opposite of what’s forecasted. What IS certain is that Uranus will target the area in your life where you’ve become stuck or complacent—and shake it awake. Its end goal is always liberation and authenticity.

Since 2018, Uranus has been in the sign of Taurus. Consider which house Taurus governs and reflect on what has transformed in that aspect of life over the last 7-8 years.

The good news is that based on history, the wars end when Uranus leaves Gemini. This is typically when peace follows—such as the formation of the United Nations. Unfortunately, the chaotic period has historically lasted the full seven years.

Uranus will enter the sign of Gemini from July 7, 2025, until May 22, 2033. (Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus between September 5, 2025, and April 25, 2026, wrapping up matters it began transforming in this house since 2018). In the sign of Gemini, Uranus is at its best when it is brilliant, innovative, and clever—especially in rapidly advancing technologies related to communication and commerce.

At its worst, however, Uranus in Gemini (which is ruled by Mercury) can also bring complete chaos in opinions and communication. Uranus may also affect people’s nervous systems; Mercury—our thinking capacity—might go into overdrive, causing restlessness and nervousness, like after drinking 40 cups of coffee. Under Uranus’s influence, we might become so restless that we can’t focus on anything. We may be so scatterbrained that we end up sharing our stream of thoughts out loud—either with those close to us or even with strangers online.

All this chaotic confusion may lead to a sense that there are just too many options, and making decisions feels overwhelming.

As you're reading this, you've probably already noticed some of these things happening both within yourself and in society. The distant, society-transforming planets tend to show signs of their influence even a couple of months before their actual transition into a new sign.

Next, we will examine which area of life for each sign comes under the influence of Uranus. My recommendation is to allow the changes to happen.

Remember that the goal of Uranus is to renew the area of life that needs awakening from its slumber, so that you can live a full and authentic life.

ARIES – Uranus in the 3rd house

Uranus in the communication house is in principle very favorable, because it brings especially to any creative and communication-related work a big dose of innovation and inspiration. Things related to siblings may also get a completely new dimension. Big, revolutionary changes may happen in their lives that may also concern you. It is also possible that something changes in your immediate environment in a way that affects your everyday life. A move may be possible, but also some kind of innovative new way to communicate, for example with neighbors or groups of people who are connected by the same interests.

TAURUS – Uranus in the 2nd house

Uranus has revolutionized your identity over the past seven years and is now moving into the house of money and self-esteem. At best, the change in your identity or role now brings you a material reward in the form of money. It is also possible that some kind of invention related to money or an innovative way related to money and communication brings you now completely new sources of income. On the other hand, Uranus can bring big, both good and bad, surprises regarding money, so it is definitely good to look before you leap, for example into risky investments.

GEMINI – Uranus in the 1st house

You will not be bored when Uranus moves into the house of identity and your body! Although you thoroughly enjoy many kinds of communication with different people and groups simultaneously, even you have your limits. Indeed, your biggest problem is the excessive flow of information and thoughts, and the over stimulation it brings, which may push your body to its limits. Consciously taking breaks and short meditation moments during the day are now almost mandatory. You are like an antenna that transmits information from the gods to us mortals. When Uranus first arrives on July 7, it feels at first really energetic, exciting, and inspiring. But at some point, making decisions becomes increasingly difficult, because information and events come continuously, to the point of chaos. Now it is good to keep in mind that you simply cannot please everyone simultaneously. You have to find your own inner decision-maker and stay on the course you have chosen. Things will gradually settle down as you get used to Uranus's energy, but it will take at least a year. But once you find your footing, Uranus will bring you a great deal of inspiration and renewal over the next 7 years.

CANCER – Uranus in the 12th house

Uranus in the house of the subconscious and hidden matters brings up things you might not even have wanted to be aware of. The 12th house is not an easy nor simple area of life, and may suddenly bring up things, people, or their character traits of which you were not previously aware. But try to trust that these changes are ultimately for your own good, especially because Jupiter in your identity house helps and nourishes you simultaneously for a whole year. At best, Uranus in this very private, suitable for meditation, self-reflection house, may produce surprising, significant flashes of insight – even up to enlightenment.

LEO – Uranus in the 11th house

Uranus in the house of networks, friends, and all kinds of groups may even make you famous. But your skills in leading these groups are now being tested. Leadership is pleasant for you, but the flow of information and people on this large scale and at this speed requires all your strength and attention. You may not be used to working this much for one thing. Generally speaking, things have come to you quite easily, even with less hustle. But now Uranus produces so many surprising situations that they really demand a lot from you. The situations now require the king of the jungle to step into the true role and take a big responsibility and learn to dance with changes. Trust that you were born to this time and place for purpose, to fulfill your earthly mission.

VIRGO – Uranus in the 10th house

Your career or public role in society is now experiencing huge changes especially over the next couple of years. The changes will be mostly good, but on the other hand, they come so unexpectedly and so quickly that you may have difficulty adjusting to them, at least immediately. On the other hand, it may also be a renewal of your way of thinking and the discovery of new communication channels. Your public role may also take a complete turn and surprise everyone. If, for example, you have been in a visible position, you may now decide to do something completely different. On the other hand, Jupiter simultaneously in your networks house means that the universe is now giving you a unique, once-in-a-lifetime freedom to choose what you really want to do, especially until next summer, but also for the next 7 years. The skies truly opens up for you now. But it may feel a little scary at first. However, there is no going back, and trust that everything happens exactly as it should.

LIBRA – Uranus in the 9th house

Uranus in the house of your life philosophy brings a revolution in how you see the world and your role in it. Fast, surprising events may lead to a completely different life. Traveling, studying, religion, spirituality, foreign countries, etc., now broaden your worldview to a whole new level especially in the next couple of, and also the next 7 years. It is mostly exciting and inspiring. Trust that surprising changes and interruptions to the normal program are on your path for a reason. Now is a good time to take a little more risk and enjoy adventures!

SCORPIO – Uranus in the 8th house

Uranus in the psychological, very karmic house speaks of karmic debts that we owe to others, or others owe to us. Uranus represents like a bill that comes unexpectedly due, or alternatively a gift that arrives at the last moment. On the other hand, a debt that at first looks unpleasant and difficult, turns out in the end to be a great blessing. Uranus is the Great Awakener and always ultimately guides us towards our authentic purpose. (This is not necessarily always the case, for example with Pluto, which brings permanent change, whether you want it or not.) So trust that Uranus brings changes with a deeper life purpose and that are ultimately freeing and liberating.

SAGITTARIUS – Uranus in the 7th house

Uranus in the relationship house brings or may have already brought surprising changes in your relationship and relationships in general. Either you change your mind about the permanence of the relationship one way or the other, or your partner changes their mind. It is also possible that things don’t happen in the relationship itself, but only in the partner’s life, which then affects you too. It is also very likely that you meet completely new kinds of people, and/or clients. If you are looking for a relationship, especially the next couple of years is a good time to find one. A tip is to be very open-minded – because Uranus brings exciting, strange, and unique people into your life. Give them a chance, in order to expand your worldview.

CAPRICORN – Uranus in the 6th house

Everyday routine and work now undergo surprising changes, especially in the next couple of years. They should be mostly good changes, even if they don’t feel like it at first, especially because they may be related to some kind of service or sacrifice. The 6th house also rules chronic health issues, so don’t skip doctor visits, and don’t engage in overly risky sports. Ultimately the changes in your work life or daily routine will bring freedom and liberation in a roundabout way.

AQUARIUS – Uranus in the 5th house

Uranus in the house that gives you joy is of course joyful news, especially because Pluto in your first house is revolutionizing your identity and brand at the same time. Uranus brings joy either in the form of creative projects, children, or romance, and they may manifest in a strange and unique way. You may, for example, meet a new acquaintance, but from a completely different culture or from different kinds of groups than you are used to. Whatever it is that Uranus brings, it generally brings joyful surprises. Some changes may at first feel difficult or strange, but over time they turn freeing and joyful.

PISCES – Uranus in the 4th house

Home, private life, or home environment is now experiencing big changes, especially over the next couple of years. An unexpected move is more than possible. Or a family member experiences changes, that in turn cause a big change in your life. Although you are usually a go-with-the-flow personality, you may also in many ways suddenly feel rebellious. Someone or something at home or in the family is pushing you too far, and this time Uranus inspires you to express your feelings out loud. This is only a good thing. Too often you thought you had already expressed your feelings to others in your own mind, which were self-evident to you.
