Practical Beginnings and Emotional Endings

New Moon in Virgo on September 2nd & Pluto Returns to Capricorn, and Mars ingresses into Cancer on September 4th. Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 17th.

The astrological landscape of September:

  1. Mercury turned direct (August 28th): Delays and misunderstandings start to clear up regarding negotiations, electric equipment and travel.

  2. Venus enters Libra (August 30th): Help arrives to relationships, negotiations and money matters, although not smoothly.

  3. New Moon in Virgo (September 2nd): A fresh start and an ideal time to arrange practical matters so that they don't drain us at the end of the month, when we really need our energy. The Saturn opposition creates a lot of pressure to throw out what is no longer serving us.

  4. Pluto returns to Capricorn (September 3rd): Pluto's return to Capricorn marks a final review of transformations in areas related to structures and long-term goals. This transit gives an opportunity to reflect on how power dynamics, or lack of them, have shaped your life since 2008.

  5. Mars ingresses into Cancer (September 4th): Emotional intensity and a focus on home and family matters for the next 6 months. The classic challenge of Mars in Cancer is either over do, or under do asserting yourself in a straightforward manner.

  6. Wonderful weekend (September 14th and 15th): Venus in Libra trines Jupiter in Gemini - an ideal weekend for socialization, communication and networking.

  7. Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Pisces (September 17th): The Full Moon in Pisces, coupled with a lunar eclipse, may bring unexpected changes, revelations, beginnings or endings that push you toward spiritual growth and emotional clarity.

Momentary Clarity and Insights

In the last week of August and the first week of September, the surprising (and at times truly depressing) pressures of this summer will ease a bit. The long wait comes to an end, and things will finally start to become clearer. While no truly great news might be expected for many, at least the uncertainty about matters will be resolved. Unexpected news, as well as the news that has been anticipated, will now come to light. If possible, it's advisable to wait until after September 10th before negotiating, signing contracts, or making significant decisions, deals, or purchases.

Venus entered Libra on August 30th, and this will be a big help concerning money, contracts, and negotiations. All parties seem to have good intentions or at least the motivation to negotiate. However, external circumstances may not give Venus the opportunity to be as helpful as it would like. For some signs, like Libra, Gemini, and Virgo, Venus might still bring some relief in the form of money or even a new job.

A Dramatic, Final Touch of Pluto

Pluto moves back into Capricorn from September 3rd to November 19th, 2024, and after that, it will never return to Capricorn in our lifetime. Pluto has been in Capricorn for 16 years, since 2008. Now is a good time to reflect on your Capricorn house. In what area of life have you changed completely over the past 16 years?

Pluto has been in this area of your life since 2008 (Sun signs, but this concerns particularly your rising sign): Aries: 10th house, which involves career and visibility; Taurus: 9th house, which involves life philosophy, education, and expanding the mind; Gemini: 8th house, which involves karmic (often money-related) debts; Cancer: 7th house, which involves relationships; Leo: 6th house, which involves work and health; Virgo: 5th house, which involves romance, children, and creativity; Libra: 4th house, which involves home, ancestors, and parents; Scorpio: 3rd house, which involves communication, local environment, and siblings; Sagittarius: 2nd house, which involves money and family; Capricorn: 1st house, which involves identity and the body; Aquarius: 12th house, which involves subconscious and hidden matters; Pisces: 11th house, which involves friends and networks.

If you look back, you’ll see that Pluto hasn’t left a single stone unturned in this area of your life. Sometimes, the transformation Pluto brings one dramatic event, but more often, it works slowly and steadily in the background. One fine day, you may realize that, for example, you no longer hold a grudge against someone. Alternatively, you might realize one day that this is the final point— a relationship, issue, or series of events is DONE, and there’s no turning back. You can’t pinpoint the exact day it happened, but looking back, everything seems to have unfolded quite purposefully, leading you to mature emotionally, through many twists and turns, and reach this conclusion.

Pluto will now make his final check and ensure that you've gained everything possible from this area of life, which Capricorn (and thus Saturn) governs. It’s likely you’ll receive a reminder of something from the past during September and October and gain a few more insights and a deep understanding of old issues. It may even sting a bit, but it will make things crystal clear, allowing you to move forward in your life. Pluto will leave this area on November 19th, 2024, and will not return to it in our lifetime.

Spiritual Harvest

Virgo season is a time of both physical and spiritual harvest, bringing us a new beginning with the New Moon on September 2nd. Now is an excellent time to organize, refine, and prepare for the upcoming fall and winter, which will be tumultuous. The first week of September is the best time to rid yourself of people, objects, or things that prevent you from moving forward. This pressure will come from Saturn’s opposition, either from an external authority, situation or internal pressure. But by letting go of the unnecessary, we create space for the new and necessary.

We Have Boat, but Missing Oars

The biggest event of the entire fall and winter is Mars moving into the sign of Cancer on September 4th, where it will mostly stay for over six months. Mars retrogrades from December 6th, 2024, to February 22nd, 2025 (in Leo from November 3rd, 2024, to January 5th, 2025), and will only finally ingress into Leo on April 18th, 2025.

Mars, the god of war, symbolizes how we act. In the sign of Cancer, Mars is in a very challenging environment—like a mercenary heading to war but ending up in a luxurious, candlelit, incense-filled spa. We can’t act the way we’d like. Mars in Cancer makes us behave either inconsistently, frustrated, overly emotional, or unable to act at all. On the other hand, Mars in Cancer is in its element when it has a suitable task, such as defending or protecting its own family, territory, or "tribe." But like Mars in Cancer, be may end up being overly emotional, and may exaggerate or misunderstand external threats.

On a societal level, issues related particularly to material security and defense and on a personal level, issues related to family well-being, women, children, and household matters are either in emotionally overblown conflict or at a standstill. On a personal level, the best way to channel your Mars energy is through any (preferably very sweaty) physical activity. Frustrated, overly emotional feelings are efficiently calmed by a good workout.

Meanwhile, both Mercury and Venus move steadily forward, meaning that there is a willingness to negotiate and make agreements, but Mars sends either cranky or quarrelsome energy to Libra’s house, or there’s a complete lack of energy to achieve positive outcomes. Without Mars’s correct energy, we can’t make too much progress. We have the boat, but we’re missing the oars, not to mention the motor. Comparing this to past events, look to the years of 2015 and 2007 when a similar situation occurred.

Sparkle of Joy

Be on the lookout for a wonderful weekend on September 14th and 15th, when Venus in Libra aspects Jupiter in Gemini. This is the perfect weekend for social gatherings, networking, communications of all kinds, and let's not forget simple enjoyment.

An Emotional Ending and A Confusing New Beginning

The full moon and lunar eclipse in Pisces on September 17th, followed by a new moon and solar eclipse in Libra on October 2 may bring unexpected themes that appear out of nowhere and disappear just as fast into some unknown place. So revelations, endings and beginnings are coming to our lives once again. The eclipse season is never simple or clear, but will lead into places that eventually push us towards spiritual growth and maturity.

Revolutionary Years Ahead

I started this blog in 2019, just before the COVID years, because at that time, astrologers agreed that something big and transformative for humanity was coming in 2020. Now we’re on the threshold of another such period. The next wild years will be 2025–2027. All the outer, societal planets (Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, and also Saturn and Jupiter) will change signs within a year. This is extremely rare. We are living in historic times. We were already being prepared for these changes in 2020, but they are only truly beginning now.

However, it’s important to remember that the upcoming upheavals won’t necessarily be good or bad, but they will be changes that drive humanity forward at a tremendous pace, more than at any other time in our lifetime. The COVID years introduced us to completely new technologies and many new ways of thinking. Things, both good and bad, that we never thought possible, happened within months, and some of them changed society permanently. We were indeed prepared in 2020, but the real years of upheaval are just around the corner—they begin in 2025. I expect them to bring many truly good things, like incredible medical breakthroughs aided by technology.

The best way to prepare for the coming years is probably to be as flexible as possible, both mentally and physically. I will discuss this in future blogs, but I wanted to introduce the situation from an astrological perspective in advance.

Namaste,

Ursula
