Venus retrogrades in the sign of Capricorn from December 19 to January 28, 2022.
Astrology skies featured powerful omens that unfortunate events would follow the unusually intense eclipses of November 19 and December 4, 2021. I wrote about it in my previous post, and unfortunately here we are, with a new virus variant. I mentioned that making too many plans for this holiday season was not a good idea, because most of them would be cancelled anyway, and unfortunately, that is indeed, happening.
Venus retrogrades for 40 days and 40 nights
Venus will be staying in Capricorn until March 6, 2022. During that time, she will also retrograde for the biblical sounding 40 days and 40 nights, (the astrological connection of this length of time and Venus is explored more in this article) from December 19, 2021 to January 28, 2022.
Venus is the Goddess of Love, relationships in general, as well as commerce, women and beauty. When she retrogrades, we start to question or re-evaluate some, or all of our relationship. Venus usually wants to bring people and things together, but when she retrogrades, the opposite, meaning separations and even break-ups, tend to happen. Downward trends in commerce and investments can also be expected.
It is also common for past romantic relationships, friendships or even a former boss or coworker suddenly appear back in our lives during this time. It is as if those relationships are being shown to us again, to see if we still feel the same way, and to see if there are some lessons to be learned from those past relationships. New relationships started during Venus retrogrades don't tend to last. Current relationships may feel some strain, but if they withstand the pressure of this time period, they will be back better than ever, and in fact, deeply committed, after the end of January.
Our deepest fears are like dragons guarding our deepest treasures
Venus is interested in commitment and security in the sign of Capricorn, but something about this retrograde will shake things lose and test the safety or commitment of our relationships. Venus meeting with Pluto 3 times means that events will point or force us to dig deep into our relationships. Venus met Pluto on December 11, and then two more times on December 25 and March 4, 2022. What came up for you around December 11? It is possible that the matter is not over, but will be rehashed in some form again - or that new things will come to light and you see another side of the unfolding relationship (whether romantic, friendship, family or work related) story.
Again, the closeness of Pluto during this retrograde makes the walk down the memory lane, or rehashing the current relationships, particularly intense. It is for example possible that the family gatherings, (or also the lack of them), will bring up some pain and anguish. Issues related to women, control and abuse will show up in the news. Our mental state will already be more serious than usual, because the Sun, Mercury, Pluto and Venus in the Saturn ruled sign of Capricorn will make us feeling quite somber during this holiday season. Saturn's influence is about wanting to hold up tradition, as well as about durance and resilience. There is no question that we will be feeling isolated and restricted in some way.
And as already mentioned in my previous post, with Venus meeting Pluto, deeply felt, authentic, non-material gifts, as well as the best gift of all, love and connection, will be the most helpful gift this season, even if it will be difficult. Venus on her own is flirty, light and fun, but in Saturn's house, together with Pluto, she will not be accepting anything superficial or fake. The supply chains will be severely affected - and "did we really need all those items anyway?", Saturn asks.
Home for the New Year: Jupiter enters Pisces
One of the brightest events of this holiday season by far, is Jupiter entering the sign of Pisces on December 29, 2021. Jupiter rules this sign, so this is a big home coming for him after over two years in Saturn's serious houses. Something or someone will be giving us new hope around the New Year. It may not look like much at first, but once Jupiter settles in and gets going in his own sign, we will be seeing something that makes us dream and believe in the future again. But this time we will not be quite as naive as last May and June (when Jupiter made a brief appearance in Pisces) and expect that things change quickly. So many planets are still ruled by Saturn at this time, that remaining resilient is necessary.
The Gift of Resilience and Authenticity
It is worth repeating what I said in my previous post about the upcoming holidays: concentrate on your definition of the true meaning of life. Try to see the beauty of the lessons in resilience and simplicity brought to us by Saturn. Pluto wants us to also see the buried treasures of our relationships. Make the holidays the way they were always meant to be: deep, heartfelt, authentic and true, for you and yours, and send out as much good vibes out to the world as you can muster - believe that it WILL make a difference.
Wishing you the small joys of an authentic holiday season,
Ursula
