The Battle between Old Structures vs. The Heart of the Sunrise Intensifies: Astrology 2019-2020

Please note, this is a general forecast - each individual chart will be impacted differently.

First: all year, especially this summer, many of you have been feeling strange, exceptionally tired, with occasional spur of frantic energy, only to soon have to sit down again, and most of all, as if you are waiting for something. I am here to tell you that you are not alone, and you are not crazy! What you are feeling, are the powerful forces of fate and karma coming home to roost, represented by your symbolic archetypal actors: Pluto, Saturn and south node in conjunction. Pluto is about power and uncompromising transformation. Saturn is about lessons we came here to learn. South node represents our collective and individual karma (good and bad) from past lives.

“Conjunction” means that these power planets and the south node are very close together in the same sign of Capricorn. In fact, they will reach the exact same degree in January 2020 and will continue their impact in various ways throughout 2020 and 2021. Jupiter, the planet of expansion, and Mars, the planet of action and aggression, will then also join them mid March of 2020. Astrologers have been talking about 2020 for a long time now. Something, good and/or bad, will most likely happen at some point, and several points in 2020 that will have a lasting impact in history. These transits are accompanied by powerful eclipses. These series of eclipses started the year 991. Yes, you read correctly, 991.

The good news: Jupiter is in Sagittarius, the sign it rules and is very comfortable in, beaming expansion, luck and fortune to everybody, until December 2, 2019. Then it joins the other powerful planets in Capricorn. My advise is to make your big moves, what ever they are, between August and November. Then it is truly time for contraction - get comfy and safe, and continue as per usual. Another powerful eclipse is coming right on Christmas day - get ready for another round of purge of what is no longer working for you.

The bad news: the last time humanity saw such intense planet and aspect formations was in 1518. Depending how we calculate, it could go back as far as the 1200's. While technology and “efficiency” has advanced wildly since then, our collective heart has not kept up. Something has to give. Capricorn is not an easy sign to host these planets, and Saturn, the task master, is very powerful because it is in its home sign. This battle in general, is about control, limits, ambition, old structures (Capricorn) versus heart, home, tribe, love and hope (Cancer). Again, the individual impact depends on an individual chart.

In general: if you have been working on yourself, honestly looking at yourself, and have had the courage to make big changes, then these transits will have less impact. If there is an area of your life that you have been neglecting, then these transits will most likely make you face them head on.

We will ALL experience the “power trio” (Pluto, Saturn, and south node) somewhere in our chart. An astrologer can only tell you which part of your life will be impacted, but ONLY IF you know the exact time of your birth. The time of your birth determines your rising sign, which then determines which planets fall into which houses. Your sun sign is only half the story - although especially if you were born during the day, your sun sign will definitely see some kind of impact too.

Most of us are impacted by these transits. If you have been exceptionally tired, very restless, very uneasy, waiting for something, especially this summer, then you are in this club. But, some will experience hardly anything. I know people who keep saying “what transits?”, “what Mercury retrograde?” :-). But even they acknowledge that the people around them are having a hard time.

We spend about 40 percent of the year either in Mercury retrograde or its pre- or post-shadow, so we can’t let MR to stop us from living. When I know a retrograde is coming, I simply start making computer backups, download movies to my iPad, bring books with me to the airport etc. So when other people are pulling their hair out and losing their minds, trying to get a flight after their flight was cancelled, I just pull out a comfy seat and pillow from my luggage and watch a movie. It is all about preparation and mindset.

So continue living your life regardless! The planets are not “causing” anything. They are omens and sign of the times. We ABSOLUTELY have control, especially when it comes to our attitude and response, which will then shape future events. But, SOME things are simply out of our control. This is a topic astrologers have been debating for over 2000 years now. What part is fate and what part is free will? The short answer: depends on your chart. Even shorter answer: nobody knows for sure. I believe the answer is in the quest for searching for that answer - the clues are hidden in our charts and in other divination tools. The search is what will shape us, and train us to get out of our own way.

What we do know, is that some things are more fated than others. Some things are completely up to us, and then there are degrees of everything in between. Certainly your attitude will have a great impact, no matter what. Going with the flow and staying flexible is how to deal with such transits. Add an objective view point - and stay your course no matter what, and you will be fine. In fact, better than fine. You will be transformed. You will get to know who you really are.

Finally, let’s not jump into the conclusion that it will all be bad. Actually, many things, some very good things too, will happen because it is necessary for them to happen, for the highest good. The planets are not here to punish us. Ultimately they are pushing and pulling us to transcend, by whatever means necessary. The more you are “on the move”, i.e. purge your closets, literally and figuratively, the more you are ready for any changes asked of you - in fact, you will welcome them! On occasion, while it is happening, it is not fun. But afterwards, (sometimes years afterwards), we will see the wisdom in it.

In conclusion: we are living unprecedented times. Many things will come to ahead. But we will absolutely be ultimately better for it. Spirit has out back for sure! Clean out that closet, throw out that old sweater, and while your at it, that toxic relationship or friendship can go too. Then you are ready to have fun, to surf the waves of regeneration, to transcend to the rainbow grid and arrive on your treasure island!
