This Time it's Personal: Venus & Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio
We have all seen in the news how the year 2026 has brought us into a completely new era, one that has been transformative in many ways, especially on a societal level. This time, the changes begin to stir things up in our personal lives, and spares no one.
Both Venus and Mercury are retrograde in Scorpio for almost the entire month of October, at nearly the same time. The retrograde motion of these two personal planets would already be significant in itself, but in addition, Mars and Pluto are forming squares to them, creating additional pressure to take action and become involved in power struggles. Money matters, diplomacy, love, and communication are all now on the table, like dice thrown into the air. At this point, they can land anywhere and in any way, and by the end of November they may have landed in a completely different place.
What is interesting, however, is that both Venus and Mercury station direct on the same day, November 14, after which all kinds of uncertainties and confusion will gradually begin to clear up. Because the cycles of these two planets operate on completely different timelines, it is rare for them to station direct on the same day — it is as if they end up agreeing on the same thing, even though they started out with completely different opinions.
October is a complicated and challenging month. Several planets are retrograde simultaneously, which means that many things will be delayed and become even more complicated. All kinds of negotiations and relationship matters will not be easy, and many people will experience all sorts of struggles and power struggles. The main theme of October is frustration. This is especially because many of the issues coming up now are old ones, and we thought we had already dealt with them. But something new is triggering these old themes in motion again, or our understanding of past situations is now allowing us to see things from a completely different perspective and will force us to make new decisions.
The last time Venus and Mercury were retrograde in Scorpio was the fall of 2018 (as well as 2010 and 2002). If you can recall what themes came up for you then, similar things may repeat themselves now.
If we also try to remain aware that almost everyone is experiencing challenges with cooperation and communication right now, we may be able to relax and consciously step away from the biggest power struggles, and wait for a better time to push things forward.

It is worth watching both your Sun sign and your Rising sign (if you know your Rising sign), as this will give you the best understanding of the different things that may emerge over the next couple of months.
